Guides for new bowlers

Information for New Bowlers

WELCOME TO ST MARTINS BOWLS CLUB

Please take care getting on and off the green and do not leave bags or woods in walkways. Woods can be a trip hazard on the green so be vigilant and avoid stepping backwards.

We have a regular roll up on Monday nights at 6pm. This is a mixed session for all members. Dress is casual but you should wear bowls shoes/flat soles. The bar is open.

You can use the club woods for as long as you like (but please leave them here). They can be found in the wood shed (number 8) – if you want to buy a set of woods there are always good second hand ones available on the internet (eBay) or in the club second hand store.

New members can come to roll ups for several weeks before deciding to join the club. If you decide to join and are new to Bowls the first year is only £20. Thereafter there is a range of subscriptions to suit you from £10 social membership (non-bowling), £30 associate membership (roll ups only) and £70 for outdoor season only to full membership at £90 per year and that includes indoor short mat season. Junior membership is £12. See the website for full details.

If you have any questions please ask a St Martins member. Contact Richard our Secretary on 10432 507483 for further details.

The document in the sub-page (Introduction to Bowls) gives some details of how the game is played and the main rules plus a link to a training video.
